Q Discopress A good start Welcome to your first quantitative case study. Please read the Mind the Gap file first. You will want to read the case a couple of times before you get too deep into the solution. You can't rush this process, so please be patient. That is why I have you start the case more than a week before it's due. You will need time to get your brain around it and what needs to be done. A deep breath This process of quantitative cases is going to be difficult for some of you. I have tried to provide all of the details that you need to succeed with cases. It can take time, but I promise you that you will get it. So, if you are struggling, take a deep breath and ask a lot of questions. Stay within the confines of the case. This case is "older" technology, so don't let that cloud your judgment. This case is about the application of capital and whether it pays off. Don't worry that the DVD isn't used much anymore. Calculation hints There are two paths to the solution of the case. Both get to the answer. I think one is better in the depth of the analysis, but the other is just as good at providing the answer. I have set up the flow of materials in the lectures to correspond with the cases, so look around in the current materials (or those just completed) for how to solve the case. This is not a time to get creative. This is where the discussion thread comes into play. If you are struggling with this part of the case, start posting questions there. I will act as a moderator to correct anything that is too far from the path, but I will rely on your classmates to provide much of this detail. Writing the analysis I have another file in this folder that covers how to write the analysis. Questions As always, if something that I have written isn't clear or if you have questions, please ask. Trying to think of everything is impossible and tyring to explain everything in written format is many times also impossible. Good luck!!! Go to top
